Tracking Growth - Over Time

Pediatric providers look at much more than just one height or weight measurement at a single visit.

Growth is tracked over time to better understand how a child is developing and whether patterns are staying consistent.

At well visits, providers monitor height, weight, head growth in infants, and BMI when appropriate.

They also consider nutrition, activity, development, sleep, medical history, and family growth patterns when evaluating overall health.

Sometimes children naturally grow at different rates, while other times changes in growth patterns may signal the need for closer follow-up, additional questions, or further evaluation.

Regular well visits help your medical home identify trends early and support healthy growth throughout childhood and adolescence. If your child is due for a wellness visit, contact Steel City Pediatrics to schedule an appointment.
